When you and your beau are heading from spot to spot, and you feel like you’re walking on hot coals with every step, you immediately regret your decision.Ĥ. You know you shouldn’t, but dammit, those incredibly painful high heels just look so perfect with the outfit you’ve chosen for your first date. Wearing ridiculously high heels on a first date. Sometimes, we attempted to dress them up with tights. Wearing a denim skirt to a dressy event.ĭenim skirts-usually mini-length, shaped like a pencil, and of a light-medium wash-also had a major moment in the spotlight about 10 years ago. Thinking full-on tracksuits are acceptable going-out outfits.įor whatever reason, there was a period of time in the early-aughts when we all thought wearing Juicy Couture tracksuits was totally acceptable in pretty much any and all social situations. And don’t try to pretend you haven’t done it! It’s okay, we’re all equally guilty.ġ. Read on for seven fashion faux pas we’ve all made in these specific instances. Women, we must confess, have this tendency to wear whatever it is we want to wear–regardless of the task that’s put before us. This can be everything from inappropriate workday attire to super uncomfortable shoes when you know you’re going to be walking for a while. Typically, these fashion errors were not the result of blindly following trends of the time–rhinestone-encrusted bell bottoms, we’re looking at you!–but rather, they involve wearing things in certain occasions that, deep down, we know we shouldn’t be wearing. The lesson is now a write-off as everyone is laughing so much.Even the most stylish among us have, at times, been guilty of committing fashion faux pas. You bend down and hear the dreaded noise of a huge rip in your trousers. Your colleagues know when you’re coming as the noise your shoes make gives you away (they can’t hide forever).ġ5. You may have been allowed to remove your tie…ġ4. It’s 35 degrees outside and the ladies can wear skirts and sleeveless tops but you are stuck in trousers and a shirt. Your school dress code is quite liberal, but even you are questioning your colleague’s length of skirt.ġ3. Someone has ‘a word’ with you because you dared to wear leggings.ġ2. Like a rebel, you got a tattoo without consulting the school dress code and you don’t care about the consequences.ġ1. People compliment you on your hair, only to discover that the one thing you did differently was to wash it.ġ0. You missed the memo and you’re the only one who is not in jeans.ĩ. You try something a little different to be met with a chorus of, ‘what on earth are you wearing sir?’ Brutal. Your husband/wife sends a package to school for you and you open it in the staffroom, only to realise that the item is not for public viewing (one from my archives – he maintains that it was a mistake…).ħ. No one mentioned you have something stuck in your teeth, but you’ve spoken to 50 people today.Ħ. You have drawn on your face and don’t realise until you look in the toilet mirror at 3.30.ĥ. Ever managed odd shoes? I’ve seen it happen!Ĥ. It’s got to the point in the term when if you cannot locate a matching pair of socks at home, odd ones will do.ģ. You get dressed in the dark and realise at about 11.30 am, that you’ve been wearing your top inside out.Ģ.
